Concentrates on both academic empowerment and cultural enrichment activities. We provide Arab-American youth with after school homework assistance; special attention is given to students with limited English language competency. Cultural activities include youth events held at the ACCC, monthly health awareness workshops, and after school cultural clubs at high schools including Galileo, Newcomer and Lincoln high schools.
Assists Arab families in adjusting to new cultural experiences and accessing resources and referrals such as citizenship training, legal referrals, health care, and job search resources.
Assists women from Arab countries in transitioning to a new culture, gaining conflict resolution skills, learning the basics of speaking English, and locating essential resources. We hold free ESL classes for women in several San Francisco neighborhoods.
We provide cultural sensitivity training for social service agencies, schools, community groups, health care providers, faith-based organizations, and more.
Provides bi-lingual health seminars and literature for Arab families living in the Bay Area.
Teaches youth aged 5-16 the basics of speaking, reading and writing Arabic in three different levels. The curriculum includes language, culture, music, art and calligraphy.
Monthly and annual events featuring guest speakers, films, musical performances, art exhibits, and the Arab Cultural Festival, all designed to highlight the diverse forms of Arab and Arab American cultural expression. |
